Our Story

We met in 2018 at a social bowling event at a local bar in Calgary. We became friends and slowly got to know each other.

We started connecting more. Our first date was at a hockey game (Go Flames!). Luckily, neither the Maple Leafs nor the Winnipeg Jets were playing - we might not be here today!

The turning point in our relationship was New Year’s Eve going into 2019. After midnight, we had our first kiss on the dance floor. When we looked up, all our friends had vanished out of sight!

Covid hit and it brought us closer together. We discussed marriage at the end of the year and we knew it would happen. It was more the formalities of meeting Jeff’s family since we couldn’t travel to the East Coast for some time because of Covid restrictions. Once we finally made it to New Brunswick, we started booking our wedding without an actual engagement.

Jeff still wanted to surprise Jess and have a special proposal moment. He delivered! Jeff got a garland of flowers for Vegas (Jess’ horse) to wear, and stood in the barn holding him on Vegas’ bday to surprise Jess. Jess did not recognize either of them at the end of the barn aisle at first! It was quite the happy surprise!

As most of you know, we were trying to mesh both our wants for the wedding by having it in New Brunswick (for Jeff) and in a red barn (for Jess). But the venue threw us a curve ball in December 2022 when they informed us they were shutting down.

We knew we didn’t want to delay our plans for marriage so we quickly refocused our efforts to Calgary as we were more easily to plan something in our home province (and Covid created quite the backlog)!

We are so excited to become husband and wife surrounded by our family and friends.
